My son has been begging me to cook his favorite chocolate soup. Well my kids call champorado chocolate soup. I should say it's more of like a chocolate porridge. Champorado main ingredients are glutinous rice and cocoa powder.
I usually cook this for breakfast but you can also serve it as a snack. In the Philippines they eat it with salted dried fish (tuyo) but I haven't tried it.
Ingredients:
1 cup glutinous rice
5 cups water
5 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 cup sugar
Evaporated milk (optional)
Procedure:
1. Pour 4 cups of water in a pot and bring to a boil
2. Put-in the glutinous rice and allow water to re-boil for a few minutes
3. Dilute the cocoa powder in 1 cup warm water then pour-in the pot. Stir continuously.
4. Once the glutinous rice is cooked (about 12 to 18 minutes of cooking with constant stirring), add the sugar and cook for another 5 minutes or until the texture becomes a bit thick.
5. Remove from the pot and place in a serving bowl.
It is always a hit dish in our family....here's the evidence:
